Treatment Room at Mountain Palace
Meridian system is like a web that covers our whole body. Each of the meridians connects to its associated organs inside the body, and it also connects organs to the entire body surface.
In our body, we have 14 Meridian channels, and 360 main acupressure points on the Meridian system.
The traditional Chinese meridian theory has been used in the treatment and prevention of illness for over 2,000 years.
When all of the meridians work in harmony and function together in unison, we remain in good health. When the body’s life energy (Qi) becomes blocked whether from stress, injury or trauma, or bad living habits (diet or lack of exercise) there is risk of causing all health problems, physical and mental. If you know how to keep the meridians in balance or how to correct imbalances and open the blockages, you will prevent your health problems living in happy healthy!
Applying manual stimulation to blocked Meridian system pressure points increases the flow of qi energy and ultimately restores balance to the body’s energy system. Initially, pressing on blocked pressure points is quite uncomfortable but reduces in intensity as progress is made in opening the blockage. Curiously, pain may be experienced in areas quite distant from the location of the blocked meridian.
Cupping is another ancient Chinese procedure where suction is applied to the skin to withdraw toxins from the body. Cupping can be stationary or moving where the cups can remain in specific positions or a cup can be moved over an affected area of the body. Traditionally, fire was applied to cups to create a vacuum that would then draw toxins to the skin surface. Now, a manual vacuum pump is applied directly to the cups to withdraw air and efficiently create a vacuum within the cups. Cupping became quite visible during recent Olympic games when swimmers were seen competing with the tell tale round dark colored spots on their skin surfaces. In addition to removing toxins, cupping removes dampness and coldness from the body. As an adjunct to acupressure, cupping seems to benefit many conditions without adverse side effects.
